Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a perfectly natural and beneficial state of mind with predictable results.

The hypnotic state is not a state of sleep. It is a pleasant and particularly relaxed state of mind wherein certain senses are more enhanced. You will have experienced the hypnotic state many times in your life, although you may not have been aware of this. If you are absorbed in music, daydreaming or watching TV, you can lose touch with your surroundings and not feel the passage of time. When daydreaming in these ways you are in an altered state of mind and become very receptive to suggestions. During hypnotherapy this altered awareness, which is induced by the therapist, is used to help you to change in the ways you desire.

These trances vary from a light state to a very deep trance. This depends on each person and the depth of the problems. Successful therapy can take place in even the lightest state.

A good definition of Hypnosis is ‘A state of relaxation and concentration wherein you have a heightened awareness induced by suggestion’. You are gently talked into this state of mind by the therapist.

Hypnotherapy is a great way to resolve issues and tap into the unconscious resources which we all have available inside of us. People often try to sort out the problems on a conscious level. However, if they could find a conscious solution, they wouldn't still have the problem. With the aid of a therapist, clients can get in touch with all of their unconscious resources and find answers to their difficulties more easily.

The coach’s role is less of one giving advice and much more of one helping the client to discover the questions they need to ask themselves to uncover their own strengths and solutions.


NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

NLP was developed by Dr Richard Bandler and Dr John Grindler and is the study of excellence. The practitioner will enable you to learn how and why you do things and teach you how to use this knowledge to create change. NLP works to assist you to find the abilities to help get yourself back in balance, to be more how you want to be; working on any area of your life, from simple behavioural changes, like phobias, to health issues, such as food intolerances and immune system issues etc. You will begin to discover the skills you have for achieving the changes you desire are just waiting to be used once the blocks to your healing have been dealt with.

E F T (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT is a new discovery which has provided thousands with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is a unique version of acupuncture, without the use of needles Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorise and is portable so you can do it anywhere. It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says...

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

And because our physical pains and diseases are so obviously connected with our emotions the following statement has also proven to be true...

"Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases."

This gentle technique involves the tapping of 14 meridian points on the body using the fingertips. The beauty of this method is that it can be practiced anywhere by anyone. Your EFT therapist will show you where you need to tap and will give you an information sheet so that you can practice at home. During a session you may choose to do your own tapping or your therapist can do it for you. Your therapist will then discuss the issue(s) you wish to deal with. She will help you to create an affirmative sentence (a kind of mantra) which will be repeated as you tap out the issue in question. The tapping sequence is repeated until you can feel a noticeable change in your response to the issue.

Therapy For Children

Children too can be successfully treated, they are often very responsive to hypnotherapy. There are many problems which can be treated, ranging from bed wetting, behavioural difficulties, inability to concentrate or irrational fears. One well known NLP aid is the spelling strategy which enables children to spell easily.

Q        Can anyone be hypnotised?
A        Generally yes, but only if you co-operate and allow yourself to be. The trance state is like daydreaming and a very natural state which we all experience daily.

Q        Will I be aware of what is happening?
A         Yes, and you will be totally in control.

Q        Won’t I be asleep?
A         No. You will be very relaxed. You may find at times that your mind wanders, a little like daydreaming.

Q        What dangers are there?
A         None, with a good therapist.

Q        Are there any side effects?
A         Yes, beneficial ones.

Q        Supposing I don’t wake up?
A        This is impossible. The most which could happen is that you would drift into a normal relaxed sleep and awaken when you were ready.
